Position Objectives:
The Police Chief is responsible for the overall administration and operation of the Police Department, including law enforcement services, community engagement, budgeting, supervision of reserve officers, policy development, and coordination of emergency response. The ideal candidate is a visible and approachable leader who is committed to building trust, fostering positive relationships, and maintaining the high quality of life our residents enjoy.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee all Police Department operations
· Report directly to the Mayor
· Maintain general computer literacy; comfortable with Microsoft Office
· Build positive working relationships with residents, businesses, schools, and neighboring agencies
· At the direction of the mayor, oversee department budgeting, planning, and administration,
including paperwork and day‑to‑day administrative tasks
· Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise reserve officers
· Coordinate emergency preparedness and public safety initiatives
· Provide police records as directed by the public records request officer
· At the direction of the Mayor, Represent the department at Town Council meetings and other public meetings
· Maintain timekeeping and documentation for reserve officers
· Collaborate with the Mayor and Town Council on public safety matters
Minimum Requirements:
· Valid Washington State driver’s license
· Current Washington State law enforcement certifications for Police Chief and overseeing Reservist Officers
Desirable Training and Experience:
Preferred Prior Law Enforcement or Military Experience
Current Washington State law enforcement certifications for Police Chief and overseeing Reservist Officers
